About Us
At
DOUBLE800, our primary
focus is SAT, PSAT & SAT II Subject Test preparation,
offering live prep courses & individual tutoring in Tucson,
Oro Valley, Phoenix & Scottsdale, Arizona; in Austin, Texas;
and in Long Island, New York. Since our first prep class in
Tucson in 2002, when a perfect SAT score was "double 800,"
we have instructed thousands of college-bound high school
students with highly successful results. In fact, we believe

Methods
Since all DOUBLE800 SAT/PSAT courses are owner-taught,
parents and students can ensure that the instructors are
both proficient and dedicated. By comparison, national test
prep companies experience high turnover of their teachers,
who are typically minimally-trained, part-time employees
concentrating on their own career paths.Another key distinction of our prep
course, is the usage of actual College Board SAT* questions for
students’ practice tests. This is unequivocally the best method of
preparation, as students become more familiar and confident with
real SAT questions, patterns, solving techniques and anticipated
score. In contrast, our corporate counterparts invent and publish
their own synthetic SATs for test simulation and score prediction.
A final element of the DOUBLE800
program, is our realization that a large classroom is not the most
conducive environment for SAT preparation. Invariably a discrepancy
exists between students’ ability levels and it is impossible to
satisfy each class member’s needs. As such, we offer a unique method
of instruction:

Qualifications
Since DOUBLE800’s main specialization is the SAT and
PSAT, our complete efforts are devoted to our students’
mastery of these tests. The founder and principal member
of DOUBLE800, Micah Salafsky, holds graduate degrees in
business and law, and has instructed every Tucson course
since the inception of the company in 2002. The
second member of DOUBLE800, Mark Sze-To, holds
degrees in engineering, computer science and graduate
business, and has taught every Austin course since 2004.
The remaining members of DOUBLE800 in Oro Valley,
Scottsdale and Long Island all have graduate degrees, and
have taught in their respective cities for a minimum of
three years. The extended commitments by these owner-instructors
maintain
the expertise and consistency of all lessons. After
giving countless hours of instruction to thousands of
students and realizing exceptional results, DOUBLE800
can assert its superiority as the premier SAT/PSAT
specialist.
